My Go To Supplements

A lot of people are using supplements to compensate for not putting in the work to get results. I get, I’ve done it. I’ve been buying diet pills since I was 15.. but I have learned over the years that there is a time when they are appropriate and a time when they’re not.
With that in mind, I wanted to share with you my go to supplements for different things. I don’t always take all of these daily, it really depends on my goals.

Everyday:

Even though my diet changes, I like to make sure that I am getting enough healthy fats. I don’t eat fish so ensuring that I get enough Omega 3’s from other sources is really important.

I also want to make sure that I am topped off on all of my vitamins. I know that some say that vitamins are a sham and that they’re not useful, but I do notice a difference in how I feel when I take them. I feel more level headed and less like I’m on a rollercoaster with energy and mood.

For Sleep:

I don’t know how many of you can relate to this, but my husband and dog snore. I can’t get away from it. It doesn’t help that I’m also a light sleeper..

I prefer the extended release because it doesn’t wear off in a few hours. Melatonin isn’t extactly a knock you out till morning pill, but it does help keep me asleep. I am very picky about light in the room at night (but oddly enough, not when I take a mid afternoon nap). So these help me stay asleep throughout the night.

Magnesium has been a huge help with being on a low carb diet. It’s not only an electrolyte which perseveres potassium and helps maintain a sodium-potassium balance, but it also relaxes muscles, especially in your digestive tract. This helps empty things out.. if you know what I mean. I do take this frequently, but not for the laxative benefit.
Magnesium is also good for sleep. It relaxes you and helps you wind down. I take this with the Melatonin right before bed.

For Weight Loss:

This is an awesome way to get in some CLA and Carnitine. CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) helps to increase fat burning, stimulate fat breakdown and inhibit fat production. Carnitine helps the body produce energy and it a non-stimulant energy. I drink this twice a day when I am trying to lose fat.

This is by far the best fat burner that I have tried.. and I have tried a lot of them.. I get long lasting energy and focus, without a crash later. I remember some where I would take it at noon and be falling asleep in the car on the way home at 5.. only to have to ingest more caffeine to have the energy to workout and combat the crash. Fit Miss doesn’t do that. I do have a hard time finding this in stores, so I typically end up ordering it.

I also don’t take a fat burner all the time. I typically only use it when I am starting a major fat loss phase. I try to use it as infrequently as possible because I want my energy to be natural and not dependent on a pill.

When I am not taking a fat burner, and I need some energy for a workout, I use this. It’s got caffeine and BCAAs. BCAAs are some of  the building blocks of protein that are harder to get enough from foods. This helps retain muscle when losing fat and helps to gain muscle by ensuring that I have all of the protein building blocks that I need.

For Muscle Gain:

Over the years I have tried many protein shakes. Some that I’ve loved, changed their formula on me.. This one I find is not super expensive- can even be found at Walmart sometimes- but the best part is that it tastes great. It really tastes like a chocolate milkshake, even with water. With milk, it’s super creamy and mmm…
I typically don’t’ drink a lot of protein shakes but I do try to always have a can/ container in the house for those days when I’m having a hard time meeting my protein goals.
This protein powder also includes some BCAAs as well.

When I am focused on gaining muscle, or want to supplement my food without caffeine, because sometimes my tea habit can get a little out of control J.. I use this BCAA which doesn’t include caffeine. I have been using this off and on for years- since I started weight lifting. I think it was one of the first real supplements I bought- mostly cause I thought I needed it- but continued because it made drinking a gallon of water super tasty.

Well- That’s it. Those are all of the main supplements that I use consistently. Leave me a comment down below if you’ve tried any of these and what you think about them!
